Painting the
Figure
I don't have problems using any software I have to get the best
image possible. For me, it's all about what the image needs.
Obviously, if this was a specific 3D image, I would only use 3D software,
but because this was an illustration with no constraints I could go
HOG WILD!
That being said, I couldn't wait to drag the rendered Bryce image into
Painter. Zygote's figures for Poser are stunning, but sometimes a little
help is needed with Painter to fix the crumpling of the joints that
occur during the actual posing process.
I start by using the Just Add Water brush and push the surrounding color
into the crumples to cover them up. Touch up with a little airbrush
then back to the Just Add Water brush to smooth out any brush strokes.
That's usually it.
I also smooth out all shadow lines. I like to keep the skin as smooth
as possible.
I always add a little
shine to the nose. A John Singer Sargent trait.
The eyes were actually
painted Painter shapes which were converted to floaters, airbrushed,
then duplicated. This way I could nudge them around with the cursor
keys until they were looking right at the viewer.
